Four Sandokai Karateka baking in the
sunshine
The 2009 St Buryan Cornish Fair picked a great day,
weather-wise - blue skies and baking sunshine.
Due to a variety of circumstances only four people were available to do the demo. Shihan Whale, Sensei Woods, Kevin Singh and Ted Hughes duly turned up and (modifiying the demo to suit only four people) went on at 1 pm.
They managed to get a spot close to the spectators so they could see easily what was happening, which went down quite well, and gave them a chance to explain what they were doing.
After the demo there were a few inquiries and hopefully some extra members for the Newlyn dojo.
The event organisers supplied some very nice home made pasties for the demo team, and Shihan Whale bought a round of drinks in the bar.
In the arena was an electronic "rodeo bull" machine and this was a must for the demo squad. After all, as karateka shouldn't they have good balance?
Without going into too many details about how individual people coped with the device, suffice it to say that Kevin Singh takes the record at 54 seconds before being dumped into the matting!
A good day out, a whole bunch of fun, and some new members for Sandokai. What more could you ask!
