Helston
Seven staunch Sandokai members cycle 45 miles
for charity.
The "Once A Year Club's" perennial sponsored cycle
ride around West Cornwall took place earlier today
beginning at Helston FC with a registration hour
followed by a pep talk of the route the ride would
take. Fifty riders took part in all and including our
seven riders linked to Sandokai in Helston. They all
started off at just after 10am and travelled to the
North coast via Wendron, Porkellis, Stithians,
Goonlaze, and Four Lanes; then across through Tehidy
to the North cliffs. The route then took them through
Godrevey, where lunch was provided by the organisers.
After lunch it was onto Gwithian and Hayle, then along the A30 to Penzance, back through Marazion and finally ending back at Helston FC where a BBQ was arranged for any hungry riders. The riders who took part were;
Although the general consensus was that Cornwall still has too many hills and the drizzle was making the riding hard going, the day was enjoyed by all in various different ways. As an aside, there will probably be some very sore backsides around for the next few days. All in all the route covered some 45 miles and the monies raised will go to CLIC Sargent and will help work carried out at the RCH Treliske. Well done everyone who took part.
